Festive Fun Activities in Preparation for Christmas

This December, the festive season has been in full swing at Longbridge Deverill, with a delightful array of activities designed to fill our home with Christmas cheer and create precious moments for our residents.

The festivities began with magical evening trips to the Longleat Festival of Light, where residents were transported "Through the Ages" with spectacular illuminated displays. They were wrapped up warm against the winter chill and enjoyed hot chocolate while listening to traditional woodland fables. A live owl display and carol singing with the famous “singing Christmas tree” added even more charm to these unforgettable evenings.

Back at Longbridge Deverill, the Christmas spirit continued with a lively “Countdown to Christmas” mini-concert. Residents and staff joined in with singalongs of beloved Christmas songs, which led to an afternoon of nostalgia and reminiscence. We also invited the local schoolchildren to sing carols with our residents which created moments of warmth and connection felt by all. Our private suites and Christmas trees were also beautifully decorated by residents, who threw themselves into the preparations by creating wonderful festive crafts while enjoying their favourite classic Christmas music.

Another highlight was a magical trip to a local Winter Wonderland garden display. The twinkling lights and festive atmosphere were truly inspiring, lifting spirits and encouraging happy memories. This was topped off by a visit from Santa himself to our home and was lovely to see our residents get involved in the Christmas magic.

These seasonal activities have done more than simply mark the holiday; they’ve created meaningful opportunities for residents to reminisce about family traditions and Christmases past. The colourful lights, comforting scents, and joyful sounds of the season have stimulated their senses and brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Bonding moments, such as decorating trees and singing carols, have also strengthened connections and sparked many cheerful conversations.

As we look back on these celebrations, it’s been heart-warming to see the huge sense of well-being and joy these activities have brought. Christmas at Longbridge Deverill isn’t just about festive decorations or events; it’s about creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where residents feel cherished and part of a community. We’re thrilled to see the lasting impact of these special moments and look forward to more memories to be made this Christmas and beyond.
