Life At Longbridge Deverill

A female resident wrapped up warm feed some birds that are sat on her arm.

At Longbridge Deverill Care Home, we believe in offering engaging activities for all our residents to get involved in, to help enhance their quality of life within a supportive environment and our staff members work hard to provide a varied activities programme each month.

Below are just some of the activities and events that took place at Longbridge Deverill Care Home in March, for you to gain an insight into what our residents get up to.

Celebrating Important Dates

Within our home, we want to make sure that we celebrate all the key dates for our residents, including birthdays and anniversaries. In March, we decorated the Terrace Room for a resident's 60th Wedding anniversary, which they celebrated with their family and they went to Longleat Safari Park.

We had another date to celebrate in March as it was one of our resident's 60th birthdays. The staff at the home made sure it was one to remember by decorating their room and making sure their favourite music was playing so they could have a dance!

Towards the end of March, we celebrated Mother's Day and the home handed out bunches of daffodils which brought the home many smiles. The resident's families were also invited over to have tea and scones in the Terrace Room - Everyone involved had a lovely afternoon.

Spring Activities

March welcomed the change of season and the Longbridge residents enjoyed several activities including a trip to the local garden centre where they brought some seeds to bring home to plant and watch bloom - They all continue to maintain their plantings and we look forward to updating you all on the progress!

Additionally, the residents enjoyed some spring crafts within the home. They made bunting for the lounges which have brought some extra cheer, especially now the days are a lot brighter. As well as this, the residents had a flower arrangement class in the Activities Room and listened to classical music while doing so.

Keeping Active

Maintaining an active lifestyle at an older age can be difficult depending on your circumstances. At Longbridge Deverill, we are fully equipt to make sure that all residents within our home can continue to have an active life. This month, we played balloon tennis which was filled with laughter, played parachute games and we tested out our new sensory room. A gentleman resident of ours helped try out some of the new equipment in this room, which was to his satisfaction and we are looking forward to introducing it to the rest of the residents.

Paw-fect Day!

Many of our residents at Longbridge Deverill have been surrounded by furry friends most of their lives and we believe pet therapy can help our residents in many ways. So we invited Peanut over to keep our residents company for the day. Everyone loved Peanuts' visit and we cannot wait to have him back for another day of cuddles!

Carol Wins ‘Outstanding Contribution’ Award

We are delighted for Carol our Administrator who won the award for ‘Outstanding Contribution’ at the recent care awards.
