Our Residents Love to Move!

Residents at Longbridge Deverill Nursing Home are embracing the start of the British Foundations’ "Love to Move" programme, a 12-week initiative offering physical and cognitive exercises to music. It is designed to promote mental and physical stimulation and involves fun and interactive games, dance, and rhythmic actions to familiar songs. The programme aims to engage residents in meaningful activities that enhance their overall well-being.

"Love to Move" is currently being introduced in care homes across Wiltshire, with the ultimate goal of reaching broader communities. At Longbridge Deverill, our activities providers are undergoing special training as part of the programme, ensuring they become fully qualified to continue offering these valuable sessions even after the initial 12 weeks. This means our residents will have regular access to these stimulating and enjoyable activities moving forward.

Music, dance, and coordinated actions allow residents to engage both physically and mentally, fostering a sense of connection and purpose. Each session provides clear evidence of the positive impact as our residents' moods have improved, they have a greater sense of self-confidence and are interacting more within a social environment, helping them to build new bonds in a relaxed and fun environment.

Our main focus is to enhance the overall well-being of our residents and will often do so through our exceptional care services and activities programme. Love to Move is just one example of the enriching experiences we provide to our residents on a daily basis. We look forward to seeing the lasting benefits of this programme and how it helps our community thrive.
